AI Field Notes
About the archive

Who publishes AI Field Notes.

AI Field Notes is a resource directory for people who treat AI as a tool inside real filmmaking and creative craft. Human judgment stays in control; the models are instruments, not a shortcut past the craft. We point at the work and link straight back to the maker.

Purpose: bridge useful finds from the AI stack into filmmaking practice, credit the maker, and keep the original source one click away. Built for craft and judgment, with the human still in control.

I.

Links only

Every find points to its original home: a Drive, a project page, an article, a tool. Nothing is mirrored here.

II.

Credit the maker

The maker’s name sits above the title on every card, and links back to wherever they chose to publish.

III.

Assets stay put

Thumbnails are hotlinked from public pages. If one disappears, we show a quiet placeholder, never a copy.

Founder

I’m Nigel Camp, a London filmmaker with Caribbean roots. Since 2011 I’ve shot and directed for people at every scale, from first-time startups to established brands, and my work has taken me across Africa and further afield. That mix taught me what a cut really needs, and it’s why I test AI tools the way an editor would. AI Field Notes is where I keep what I find. I pay for my own subscriptions, no maker pays to be here, and I’ll only point you to something I’d show a colleague.

Filed by Nigel Camp

I’m a filmmaker based in London. I set up my production company, DevilBoy Productions, in 2011, and I’ve spent more than 15 years making commissioned films. I wrote The Video Effect (Rethink Press, 2014), a short, practical guide to making video that works, and I’ve taught filmmaking for more than a decade, including at General Assembly.

These days I also direct AI video.

I started AI Field Notes because there’s a lot of noise out there. I wanted one place that links to the original source, says plainly what a tool does in an edit, and puts a date on everything so you can see how current it is.
