Motion by Mosaic: an editing agent you can finish in Resolve

Mosaic's post (20 Oct 2026): Motion is an editing agent that works on your own footage or makes new material, handling cuts, motion graphics, grading and audio sync, and it can copy the pacing and type of a reference video. The project stays editable, in Motion's own timeline or in Premiere Pro, After Effects or DaVinci Resolve.

What changed

You give Motion a written brief, a brand pack or a video to copy, and it builds a cut. Mosaic says it reads the reference for pacing, type and transitions, works out shots, then reviews its own cut before showing you. You can ask for changes, draw on the frame to point at something or edit text right in the preview, or work in Motion's timeline. Footage can come in from Google Drive or Frame.io, it can run on a schedule or whenever a new YouTube upload appears, and there's an API and an MCP server for calling it from other tools. Most of the post is a test of whether the code format behind a film changes the result. Mosaic found the familiar ones gave much the same film, with its own format slightly cheapest at $2.86 a film in its run. Our earlier note said open beta with no waitlist. The post doesn't say that now, only that its examples were made during the beta, so we've taken it out.

Who it's for

Social, marketing and small in-house teams who turn long recordings into lots of short pieces: podcast clips, launch films, explainers. Every example Mosaic shows is that sort of job. The post gives no prices, plan limits or sign-up status, so check the Motion site before you plan work around it.

What it means for a cut

The hand-off is what makes it worth a look. Mosaic says you can take one project on to Premiere Pro, After Effects or DaVinci Resolve without rebuilding it, so the agent's version can be a rough cut you finish properly. It doesn't say what that hand-off actually is, whether an XML, an EDL or a project file, or how graphics and grades survive the move, so try it on one small project before a deadline. Motion can also publish to connected social accounts, and you can make it wait for your approval first, which we'd leave switched on.
